Tokyo Adventures Day 2 – Imperial Palace, Tokyo Tower & Shinjuku Nightlife
Good Morning from Tokyo! ☀️ We started our second day in Japan with a quick breakfast from 7-Eleven (cheap and reliable 💯). While Sudeshna packed up the bags, we checked out of our first hotel and crossed the road to another stay — Asakusa Hatago Hotel. This place had a proper Japanese touch with tatami flooring and futon-style bedding. Super cozy!
🚆 Navigating Japan Transit
Japan’s trains are a wonder — punctual to the second ⏱️. We hopped on the metro, taking the last car for easier exits. Even during rush hours, the trains were clean, organized, and somehow peaceful.
🏯 Exploring Tokyo Imperial Palace
We walked across thousands of stairs to reach the Imperial Palace. The gardens are free to enter, and though you can’t visit the Emperor’s residence itself, the massive walls, Nijubashi Bridge, and stunning skyline views were worth the effort. The mix of greenery, traditional Japanese structures, and the modern city around is breathtaking. 🌿🏙️
🍣 Conveyor Belt Sushi Lunch
Finally, the food highlight of the day — Sushi Train! 🍣 Plates zoomed in on a belt, and every order arrived lightning fast on a second-level track. Fresh, tasty, and surprisingly affordable — we devoured as many as we could! Plus, you even make your own green tea at the table.
🗼 Tokyo Tower & Zojo-ji Temple
Next stop: Tokyo Tower, Japan’s answer to the Eiffel Tower. At 333m, it slightly edges out its Parisian inspiration. What we didn’t expect was stumbling upon Zojo-ji Temple nearby, filled with rows of children’s guardian statues wearing red caps. It felt peaceful and deeply cultural — a hidden gem.
🌃 Shinjuku Nightlife
Our evening wrapped up in Shinjuku, buzzing with neon lights, karaoke bars, pachinko parlors, and endless restaurants. The vibe here is straight out of a movie. We grabbed a quick bite at McDonald’s (yes, they have unique menu items 🍔) before heading back to Asakusa for a more budget-friendly stay.
✨ Travel Tips
- Choose hotels near metro stations to save time.
- Try the last car in trains for smoother boarding/exiting.
- Don’t miss the Zojo-ji Temple when visiting Tokyo Tower.
- Shinjuku = nightlife. Asakusa = budget-friendly base.
